What is premature ejaculation?

Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation; all in the mind?

Essentially, the answer is yes and at the same time no, there have been many studies as to why do premature ejaculation happen. It become quite clear relatively early on by studying the subject that there are two different perceptions from the male and the female point if view. First of all, premature ejaculation has actually been classified with an abbreviation PE because it is a very common sexual problem. Now, it is necessary to look at who is defining this problem and then the first interesting fact emerges. Men are far more worried about premature ejaculation than their partners. Should a man suffer from premature ejaculation, he could use an array of other terms, rapid ejaculation, rapid climax or early ejaculation, many definitions, but essentially a feeling of disappointment and failure; however, the issues with premature ejaculation do not stop here.

A man wants his partner to reach orgasm either before or at the same time as he does, the interesting facts born out by extensive research is that in more than 50% of cases, the man will actually ejaculate before his partner achieves orgasm and as this is so common most women will not be concerned and conclude that they have still had good sex with their partner.

So the focus turns back to the man, it is his perception of whether he has satisfied the woman that counts at this point. Another interesting fact emerges, men who have actual believe that they suffer from premature ejaculation in their opinion are actually satisfying their partners who have no complaints. Essentially a man who ejaculates within 2 minutes of penetrating his partner considers that he has "come too soon." Many female partners have absolutely no problem with this, their response is that they appreciate that their male partner has shown his, obvious desire for them and this is more than enough to satisfy them that their relationships are more than fine.

A woman who has some sexual encounter experience with different partners over time will tell you that every minute over 3 minutes is either an added bonus or an annoying barrier to getting to some sleep. So being able to last the long distance is not automatically going to make the male instantly more alluring, but potentially more annoying. A premature ejaculation shows your female partner that you really want her but your body is not able to restrain itself and this cannot be a bad thing, as this is far better than not being able to get excited and hard when you should be aroused.

Premature ejaculation isn't permanent!

Far too many men suffer in silence these days when it comes to the sensitive subject of premature ejaculation. This is not a condition that needs to be permanent because it is completely and utterly treatable. It is referred to by many names such as early ejaculation, premature climax, rapid climax or rapid ejaculation; the abbreviated medical term being PE. This can happen any time from before entry up until 2 minutes following entry. Unfortunately the statistics show that ¾ of men actually climax within 2 minutes of entry more than half the time. This on its own demonstrates that these unfortunate occurrences are anything but rare. If it is so common however, why has it received so much attention?

All men want to last longer, it's just that some of them can't .Many men have come to personal terms with this and will tell you that they are absolutely fine with it .Others refuse to talk about it and live in denial .The rest of the male population would absolutely love it if there was a simple solution to male PE. Men need to rest assured that PE is not their fault. There are many causes of PE including: the gene pool (thanks Dad), medication, stress (crazy right? Nobody has stress in their life), health issues, psychological factors such as guilt, fear, and anxiety; and finally the word that no man wants to hear impotence.

Medical science has found a cure for many of the things that used to trouble us as a human race. PE is no exception. But there are natural steps that can be taken to treat and/or cure PE. Kegel exercises for instance, may increase the male's ability to delay ejaculation by pushing their pelvic floor muscles.

Solving relationship issues, reducing the stress in your life, practise the stop-and-start method, changing sexual positions, using thicker condoms and desensitizing creams are just a few of the simpler, non-prescription methods to dealing with PE. There are three more helpful hints when it comes to dealing with PE: special condoms that are manufactured for this very purpose or you can try double wrapping your penis with two condoms. Throw the missionary position out the window! Lie on your back and experiment by letting your partner take the reins by being on top. Not only can this be an exciting change of pace but it has in certain cases been known to prevent PE.

Last but not least, masturbating several times before sex can make your penis less excitable when it actually comes down to the sex act itself.

Premature ejaculation and spinal cord injuries

It makes sense that spinal cord injuries can have an effect on a man's sexual performance since the neurons that trigger emission and ejaculation travel through the spinal cord. Worst case scenario; severe spinal injuries can end up in the male losing complete and total function of the penis. In lesser traumatic or even minor injuries to the spinal cord, premature ejaculation can become a problem where there once was none. Injuries to the Al through T12 spinal area can affect a man who previously was able to go for 10 to 20 minutes before having to release in several documented ways:

These problems go from inconvenience to downright embarrassment and lack of confidence in social situations. Squeezing therapy and start/stop therapy was unsuccessful in all these cases. And unfortunately, only a mild improvement was achieved through these prescribed drugs; prazosin, terazosin and phenoxybenzamine. Groin, chest and brain injuries can also be causes of premature ejaculation. Though these are harder to diagnosis, they are not uncommon. Ejaculation and male arousal are closely associated with the neurological system. Any interruption of that system can result in PE or more severe afflictions. Do not ignore any injuries or illnesses involving your central nervous system, no matter how insignificant you may feel they are, when seeing a doctor about PE or other male reproductive problems. Only the right diagnosis can achieve the right treatment. In the case of injury being the cause of premature ejaculation the problem can only be treated… not cured.

Back injuries can qualify as a cause for premature ejaculation as well. A herniated disk or damaged muscle is all that is needed. Back pain and premature ejaculation can go hand in hand after a back injury, so never hesitate to associate the two. If however a chiropractor is able to alleviate your back problems there is every chance that premature ejaculation may be resolved additionally, as a result. The bottom line here is that if you are suffering from premature ejaculation and have decided to see a doctor about it, being completely and totally forthcoming with your doctor is an absolute requirement if you hope to resolve this unfortunate situation.
